'Farm to Picnic Blanket' Dinner Sells Out

We want to thank everyone who attended our recent sold-out Dinners on the Farm event at Blooming Glen Farm! Despite a gloomy forecast of rain, the day remained cheerful and (mostly) bright. Tricia from Blooming Glen accurately called it a “farm to picnic blanket” dinner. Nearly 200 people came to enjoy Triumph Brewing Company and Sprig & Vine’s exquisite food and drink, as well as oWowCow’s ice cream, while taking in the mid-summer scene of an expertly managed farm and the sounds of Riverside Bluegrass Band. We hope everyone had fun!

"Dinners On The Farm" Returns

We could not be more excited to announce that the first Dinners on the Farm event of 2011 will take place at Blooming Glen Farm in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, on August 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. We’ve partnered with the chefs at Sprig & Vine, Triumph Brewery and OWowCow Creamery to create what will undoubtedly be one of summer’s most memorable nights.

Dinners on the Farm invites the public to experience first-hand the connection between farmers and chefs, combining privileged farm tours and exquisite seasonal meals prepared by the region’s brightest chefs. Last year Zone 7 inaugurated Dinners on the Farm with a series of four outdoor dinners, at Terhune Orchards in Lawrence, Muth Family Farm in Williamstown, Oak Grove Plantation in Pittstown, and Manoff Market Gardens in Solebury, PA. Between the food, the wine, the people and the setting, even The New York Times was impressed.

This year we’re throwing a casual, picnic style party in lieu of last year’s more formal and elegant events. Chefs from two New Hope, PA, restaurants, Sprig and Vine and Triumph Brewery, will continue the high standard of inventive, satisfying food started last year by our partnering chefs at elements, Eno Terra, A Toute Heure, Market, and the bent spoon. OWowCow Creamery will provide dessert. We’re also finalizing the details on a live band.

Blooming Glen Farm is home to the phenomenal farming family of Tom Murtha and Tricia Borneman. At the dinner Tom and Tricia will treat their guests to a one-of-a-kind farm tour at the height of the season. For a glimpse at the beautiful and inspiring culture of Blooming Glen, check out some photos on their Flickr page, as well as their website and their profile on our website.
