Fernbrook Farm

Back To Farms >

Located in the Bordentown-Chesterfield area of Central New Jersey, Fernbrook Farms has been in the Kuser family for three generations. The farm offers a CSA program, wholesale tree nursery, historic bed and breakfast, as well as summer farm camps, homeschool programs and year-round educational activities for children and adults.

Although Fernbrook is not certified organic, its farmers never use synthetic chemical fertilizers, insecticides or herbicides. Instead, they add rich composts to the soil, plant nutrient-building grasses and legumes, rotate crops to different fields every year, and rest (or fallow) fields in a rotating system. In fact, their goal is to exceed organic standards and farm in a way that builds the soil, protects wildlife and waterways, encourages biodiversity, safeguards human health and produces healthy, delicious food.

Farm manager Jeff Tober says, “We eat this food too and we simply do not believe in using chemicals.”
