Tucked away in Bucks County, PA, Manoff Market Gardens treats its customers to the season’s sweetest fruits. Gary and Amy Manoff began farming on Comfort Road in 1984. Their first peach orchard block consisted of mostly White Hale peach trees, which had been made popular in the neighborhood years before by a former farming family. Since then the Manoffs have been busy popularizing the more than 20 varieties of peaches they now grow, not to mention their mouth-watering strawberries, blackberries, cherries and apples.
Though the land was formerly farmed (and had been preserved as farmland), it had been let go for 25 years when the Manoffs began clearing the land. They followed a soil conservation plan to preserve the soil, erected waterways and terraces to control rain water runoff, and installed a well and connected drip irrigation lines to ensure the most efficient and environmentally sound methods to grow their crops.
