A Toute Heure

A Toute Heure is a local-sourcing, seasonal bistro specializing in American-, French- and Spanish-inspired cuisine. Located in the Centennial Village on the south side of Cranford in a restored 1930s’ building, the bistro opened in May of 2007 and is owned by Jim and Andrea Carbine. In 2008 the Carbines opened Jack’s Run Garden, a 4,000-square-foot kitchen garden that supplies ATH with specialty produce in addition to what it gets from local farms, markets and co-op growers. Ms. Carbine was nominated for a James Beard award in 2009 and 2010, and the bistro was awarded an Edible Jersey “Local Hero” award in 2008.

Chef Bio: Kara Decker, executive chef
Kara Decker combines her practical training at the French Culinary Institute in New York City with her experience in notable restaurants around the region, from the Mesa Grill to the local institution Chez Catherine. She joined ATH in late 2007 and is now responsible for marrying the amazing local produce the bistro sources with great flavors. Recognized as one of New Jersey’s Best Chefs by Inside Jersey Magazine in 2008, Ms. Decker was recently awarded high praise in reviews from both NJ Monthly and the New York Times.

Co-owner Andrea Carbine on working with Zone 7:
“ATH has worked with Zone 7 since it began because the company serves as a vital connection between the farmers of the local area and the restaurants and businesses that want to support their local community.  Without this network in place, for which Zone 7 is responsible for cultivating, this direct farm-to-table channel would be difficult to facilitate with some of the more wide-spread farms and purveyors.”
