Lovin' Oven

Back To Restaurants >

Dreamed up by husband and wife team Julie Klein and Mike Quinn, the Lovin' Oven opened its doors on May 15, 2005, in an old Victorian house on the river in Milford, NJ. Within five years it expanded incrementally, beginning as a bakery and cafe and soon becoming a full service restaurant providing breakfast, lunch and dinner. When an opportunity for more space arose, the Lovin’ Oven moved five miles down the river to Frenchtown in order to better serve its customers and its own growing needs.

Julie and Mike’s mission is to provide fresh delicious food for their patrons in a friendly and welcoming environment. The Lovin' Oven specializes in cuisine made from locally sourced fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, cheeses and whatever else the chefs can find in the fertile Delaware Valley. A wide range of locales influence the menu, from the farm-to-tables movements of northern California to the countryside simplicity of rural French and Italian foods, as well as many Asian flairs.

The Lovin’ Oven has earned a reputation as a healthy, community conscious restaurant with a sensitivity to a variety of dietary needs. Dining at the Lovin' Oven inspires a feeling of tenderness that keeps customers coming back. For many of the people who eat here, it is not just a restaurant but a home away from home. The Lovin' Oven hosts a variety of special events as well, including farm to table dinners, live music, and upcoming cookbook author meet and greets. It also has a beautiful outdoor dining patio in the warm months.

Chef Bio: Julie Klein, chef/co-owner
Julie Klein, who runs the Lovin' Oven kitchen, began her career with an untraditional start. Her love for cooking was first sparked by throwing elaborate dinner parties in her college house at Penn State, where she studied English literature and political science. Julie's love of cooking, agriculture and food led her to move to Northern California where she surrounded herself in the bounties of the region and continued cooking with great enthusiasm. After California she traveled through Southeast Asia where her eyes were opened to a whole new world of ingredients and flavors. Julie and her husband then met and settled on the Delaware River in Hunterdon County, where she began to work in a variety of wonderful restaurants. Then the couple decided to open their own restaurant in the area.

Julie Klein on working with Zone 7:
“The Lovin' Oven takes much pride in teaming up with Mikey and the crew at Zone 7. What an important and needed service they provide! Zone 7 provides two unbeatable services for busy restaurant owners. One is the ability to deliver an incredibly wide variety of beautiful local fruits, vegetables, cheese, grains, eggs and meats right to our kitchen door. Two is the ability to do the extensive research it takes to find these farmers and artisans and get them involved in the at times very confusing process of getting their goods to the restaurants!

Both of these wonderful services are so valuable to restaurants that strive to provide their customers with the freshest, most sustainable, and delicious foods around but are often strapped by long work days and lack the ability to get to the farms and meet the farmers. Not only does Zone 7 provide these much needed services but Mikey and his crew do it with such great enthusiasm and zeal you can't help but get excited and want to be involved in what they are doing! Lovin' Oven loves Zone 7!”
